 Board Positions 

There are eight board positions for the LPES PTA. They involve a year round commitment and can range from 10 to 20 hours a month. 

All of the positions will attend monthly PTA meetings, vote on PTA issues, help with PTA activities as schedule permits and uphold the PTA Mission. 


Below you can read more about each individual position.

President 
​
  • Manage overall objectives and strategies of PTA
  • Act as liaison between parents and principal/staff
  • Recruit and oversee PTA Committee Chairs
  • Create agenda and facilitate monthly PTA meetings
  • Helping execute activities as needed
​Treasurer
​
  • Prepare the annual tax return with our CPA
  • Inform committees of budgeted funds
  • Pay bills and reimbursements as required
  • Oversee ongoing PTA finances
  • Ensure adherence to approved PTA budget
  • Prepare and present budget report for each PTA meeting
  • Prepare and present year-end audit      



​Secretary

 
 

  • ​Take minutes at PTA meetings, forward to President for review and then submit minutes for inclusion on website.
  •  Email copy of minutes to Board members so they can be approved by the membership
  • Count a rising vote when requested by the presiding officer
  •    Have on hand for reference at each meeting the following:
◦   bylaws and standing rules (kept in PTA Office)
◦   agenda and minutes
◦   approved budget
◦   yearly calendar
          
 

    Communications VP



​
  • Maintain Web page, Facebook Instagram and Twitter accounts
  • Create and distribute monthly newsletter including (but not limited to:) PTA activities, fundraiser results, upcoming events, monthly volunteer opportunity, membership and other pertinent PTA information
  • Oversee the PTA Parent Ambassador Programs as well as send other communications

​Membership VP



​
  • Plan and execute Membership campaign
  • Create and maintain updated Membership roster throughout the year and provide updates to Secretary
  • Maintain the online membership page and online directory
Fundraising VP



​
  • Work with Board to choose fundraisers
  • Oversee all fundraising chairs
  • Keep the Board updated on progression of fundraising events and communicate any needs of the chair
  • Communicate the time table of fundraisers and oversee the school wide communication
  • Schedule monthly "Spirit Nights" (About 4 a year)
  • Count fundraiser money (when needed)/ works with Treasurer
  • Assist with fundraisers as schedule permits
 ​Programs VP



​ 
  • Work with Board to choose Programs
  • Oversee all Program Chairs
  • Keep the Board updated on progression of Programs and communicate any needs of the chair
  • Communicate the time table of fundraisers and oversee the school wide communication
  • Assists with Programs as time permits
Cultural Arts VP 
  • Attend the yearly United Arts Council showcase to select programs for the year
  • Apply for the United Arts Council Grant
  • Work with staff to select performers and dates
  • Set up Artist in Residence for 5th grade legacy project
  • Manage payment of artist through United Arts Council
  • Meet artist on day of the performance
Advocacy 
  • ​Help advise the LPES PTA of opportunities to take a stand to support children, both at our own school and throughout the county, state.
  • Also to attend our local District 9 quarterly meetings with our School Board Representative.
  • This position works with the PTA President.
