What is this program?
The Boosterthon Fun Run experience combines a fun fitness event, an interactive character program, and ends with a very exciting Fun Run! This is our school`s largest fundraiser and over the past 5 years and brought $125,000 into our school. We have purchased countless new Smart Boards, laptops, and other hands-on technology. It provides important classroom software like MobyMax, Raz Kids and Pebble Go. It has also paid for great outdoor improvements, like our track.
What is our goal for this year and what will the money be used for?
Our goal is to raise $30,000 to give our media center a make over!
Kicking it off the Program/ Pep Rally
Boosterthon Fun Run team leads this exciting assembly-style meeting in the school gym. The team explains that the Boosterthon Fun Run will be happening next week and how every student will run as a school. The team also talks about how students will learn character lessons over the next eight days and how families can get pledges to help their school. Students leave school that day with an informational Pledgebook for parents to review.
Team Huddle Days
Throughout the week, you will hear your child talk about Team Huddle Days. This is the time when the Boosterthon Fun Run team talks to students about the Boosterthon Character Program, thanks students for helping their school, and reminds classes about the upcoming Fun Run. Most importantly, this is the time that every class becomes a team with the teacher as their coach! They pick a team nickname and create a team flag.
Team Huddle Days are designed so that schools can continue about their learning schedule as normal.
What is the interactive Character Program?
During the Team Huddles, your kids will be traveling around the world! With the Big World Recess theme, your students will travel to six different countries and meet students athletes that will share their experiences in important character lessons. They will talk to your students about the importance of teamwork, curiosity, endurance, practice, humility and confidence. Be sure to ask your student each day about what they have talked about.
Every year, Boosterthon hosts a giveback initiative and invites our schools to help change the world by thinking of others. The 2016-17 giveback is Feeding America.
For every $30 per lap a class reaches during the Fun Run program, Boosterthon will team up with a local shelter to provide three meals to someone in need.
The National Boosterthon goal is to sponsor 160,000 meals!
