Heartwood Education Program

Program Description:
The Heartwood Character Education Program is a read-aloud literature-based curriculum that aims to teach elementary school students seven universal attributes of good character.
–Respect
–Responsibility
–Self-Discipline
-Courage
–-Good Judgment
–-Integrity
–-Kindness
–-Perseverance

The program invites volunteers to read to a group of children and engage in question. Stories and questions are designed to each grade level to connect the experiences of characters in the stories to students' own lives.

It is run entirely by parent volunteers who come in once a month to read to the classroom.

We search for volunteers at the beginning of the school year and assign them a class to partner with (usually your child`s class). You will arrange a time each month with the teacher to come in and read.
