Plant a Tree and watch us grow!!

Thank you for sponsoring our tree initiative! We are excited to say that we raised money for 30 trees! That is amazing. Thank you to all who donated toward this special project! Trees have been installed!!
What do I need to know about the Tree Project?
The trees seem to be more than what I see at Lowes or Home Depot. Why are we going with Garden Supply?
There are a few factors that affect the prices of the trees. First and foremost, they include professional installation. For new trees to survive at a school, they need to be substantial. Ours will be 10-12 feet tall. As such, they have very large root balls. To plant them, a hole about 3 times the diameter and depth of the root ball needs to be dug in order to ensure proper aeration and space for the roots to grow and establish themselves. As you can imagine, planting just one would be a lot of work. And we are hoping to plant 30!
We elected to partner with Garden Supply as the health and survivability of their trees are higher, and their team has the ability to work with the school on an individual and real-time basis as we select locations and make adaptations during planting. This type of project isn’t one that happens often; we want to make sure that it is done in the best way possible!
Why trees when Technology is always our PTA`s main focus?
Each year our Boosterthon and Book Fair earnings go directly toward technology. We are proud to say that last year we spent over 25,000 in our school to make those improvements. While technology continues to be our focus, there are many parents who have asked for improvements to the playground to help extend recess when the temperatures are soaring. Getting some much needed shade allows teachers to get their kids out of the classroom not only for recess, but at other times of the day as well. The PTA advocates for healthy minds as well as healthy bodies, and we are happy to support an initiative that gives our students more opportunities for brain breaks.
If I donate, how will I be recognized?
Our school is so excited about the long-term positive impact that this project will have on students and teachers that we have committed to recognizing all of our donors in a permanent mural within the school. You can use your child’s name, family name or the name of someone you would like to honor. If families choose to sponsor a tree together, their names will be listed together.
Is this a fundraiser for the school?
This is not a fundraiser, it’s a special initiative to improve the outdoor environment at the school. As such, we are so happy to welcome sponsorship at any level. It would be wonderful to see families or classrooms combine to sponsor a tree! 100% of all proceeds will go to purchasing trees for the playground and they will be planted in mid-September.
