When is the School Dance?
Saturday, May 17 in the LPES Gym K-2 will dance from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm 3-5 will dance from 6:00pm to 7:30 pm How can I help with the school dance? We. Want. You. We can't run this event without many volunteers. Sign up to help! You can make this event a success for the students and even show them a cool dance move or two! Frequently Asked Questions Who can attend the dance? The dance is open only to current Laurel Park Elementary students. What is the dress code? We recommend each student dress their best to express themselves! Wear what sparks joy, but the WCPSS dress code still applies. My student doesn't know how to dance. Can they still attend? This event is for students to enjoy a delightful afternoon with their favorite Laurel Park buddies and to create cheerful memories at their favorite elementary school! There is no right or wrong way to groove when you're doing your happy dance! |
What will happen at the dance?
It's not a dance without some dancing! Apex Leadership, our Fun Run/Glow Party partner and favorite amongst students, will be spinning beats. No need to bring a camera, there will be a photo booth to capture all those exciting memories. Sprinkle in some good friends, and it's a recipe for fun!
Can I stay and watch the dance?
No. The dance is a drop-off event. If you would like to assist with the dance, you can sign up to volunteer here.
Do I need to have WCPSS volunteer clearance to help out at the dance?
Volunteer clearance is not required, so please sign up to help!
When do I drop off my student(s)?
Drop-off begins at 3:45pm for the dance for K-2.
For the 3-5 grade dance, drop-off begins at 5:45pm.
Where do I drop-off my student(s)?
Drop-off will occur in the bus loop. Simply pull into the bus loop and a volunteer will help your student(s) out of the car.
Will there be food and drinks at the dance?
Light snacks and water will be available for students. A meal or heavy snack before the dance can help your student feel energized and be ready to boogie.
Does my student need to bring anything?
Keep the toys, cash, electronics, and disco balls at home, but be sure your student brings their best dance moves!
When do I pick up my student(s)?
Pick-up for K-2nd grade students will begin at the conclusion of the dance at 5pm. For 3rd-5th grade students, pick-up will start at 7:30pm when the dance concludes. Please be prompt in picking up your student(s) so that our volunteers can leave in a timely manner to be with their families.
Where do I pick up my student(s)?
Pick-up will occur in the carpool loop. At the conclusion of the dance, students will be escorted to the carpool loop for pick-up where volunteers will help students into their cars. Please be patient as volunteers assist students into their vehicles so that we maintain a safe pick-up for all.
Can my upper elementary (3rd-5th grade) student attend the K-2 dance with their younger sibling, or vice versa?
No. While we understand that students are friends with children in all grades, the dance has been divided for the safety of the students and to better cater to the varying ages. Attending their grade-level dance allows your student to better connect with their classmates and peers in a fun, relaxed, and safe social setting.
