Wake County PTA Resolution in Support of Wake County School Bond Referendum
Why did WCPTA pass this resolution and why is the bond so important? Talking points to share with your PTA members. VOTE YES on November 6th!
  • The bond will help pay for the renovation of 11 school facilities, five new elementary schools, one new middle school, one new high school, new digital classroom technology, and updated school safety and security measures.
  • There is broad support for the school bond proposal. The county commission and the board of education are working together in support of the bond. Civic, community, educational, and business leaders have joined forces to promote the passage of the bond in November.
  • Voter approved bond financing is the most cost-effective and fairest way to pay for new schools and renovations. They carry the lowest interest rates. If voters DO NOT approve the bond, County Commissioners will be required to use other forms of financing that will ultimately cost taxpayers more. The County Commissioners are statutorily responsible for funding the school construction and renovations.
  • Facility renovations create safe and healthy learning environments for our children as well as helping to retain and recruit the best classroom teachers.
  • School security upgrades, including security cameras, to improve student/teacher safety are included in the budget.
