Walk to School Day
Wednesday, October 2, 2019!

Walk to School Day is an internationally-celebrated event aimed at building awareness of the need for walkable communities.
This event is a part of LPES's Walking Program, created to open more transportation options by making it easier for people to walk (and bike) to school.

How to participate?
If you can safely walk from your house, walk from home with a parent or other responsible adult.  Below you will find *Walking School Bus* locations.  Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes before the listed departure time!   Be sure to sign in at your meeting location so that you are entered into our raffle for sporting equipment--we have a football, soccer ball and basketball to give away.

Please meet up with the *Walking School Bus* at Apex Community Park or if you are a resident of one of the listed neighborhoods:

  • Apex Community Park: 8:40 am departure from the parking lot adjacent to Laura Duncan Road.    To keep our participants safe, we are asking participants to please park in lots by field 2 (batting cages) and field 3 (soccer) and then walk over to lot by field 1.
  • Ellington Place neighborhood RESIDENTS: 8:40 am departure from the playground.
  • Laurel Park Place neighborhood RESIDENTS: 8:45 am departure from the path to Laura Duncan Road from Royal Berry Ct.

TRACK 4 FAMILIES ARE INVITED TO JOIN US!
Track 4 families are welcome to participate in National Walk to School Day even though you will be tracked out.  The playground will be available to our Track 4 families until 9:30am when we will walk back to the park.
