Grant writer needed!
Are you looking for a way to get involved with Laurel Park and the PTA but want to do it from home? Then we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for someone to help seek out and write grants. The PTA currently relies solely on fundraising to fund the programs and purchases that impact our school. Grants provide us with another funding source and can lead to some fantastic new program options for us. We are looking for grants that support curriculum, STEM, school improvements, and the needs of all our students. The time commitment would vary throughout the year based on grant deadlines. If you are new to the grant process, the NC PTA provides education on how to find and write grants. This is a great position for someone who would like to help the PTA from the comfort of their own home. Please contact Stephanie Mitchell at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you have any questions.
Hurricane Harvey Relief
The overall purpose of PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
Dear LPES families,
As many of you are aware, Houston and southeast Texas were devastated by Hurricane Harvey. So many families are still struggling. Not only were homes destroyed, many schools also took on water. Teachers around the Houston area are working not only to help their own families and students, but are also desperately trying to recreate their classrooms. As a PTA, we strive to advocate for all children. Sometimes that advocacy goes beyond our own communities. Please consider helping these teachers rebuild for the new school year. Below you will find a link to two Amazon wish lists. We ask that families of K-2 students that would like to donate, please consider purchasing items from the 3rd grade teacher list. Families of 3-5 students can make purchases for the English class.

Cox English class wish list:
All items ordered through the wish list will be shipped directly to the teacher.
To understand how grateful these teachers are for our help, I want to leave you with her email in response to being matched with our school:
When one of our parents forwarded on this Adopt a Classroom site it sounded like a Godsend. After reading your email it brought tears to my eyes. It is so emotional to know that people who don't know us are wanting to help us get back to the thing we have in common, teaching. Stephanie, having a connection to Houston gives you a better understanding of the area and its unique citizens. We've all been helping out in whatever ways we can, but Harvey caused so much damage.
I spoke to our lower school head who told me by Wed., Sept. 6 they will know much more about all needs. We've spent days salvaging everything higher than 2' in our classrooms(height of level of water in our beautiful outdoor campus).
Thank you so much, and once those assessments are made I will reach out to you again.
Please know that we in Texas are feeling your love.
All the best-
I want to give a shout out to the LPES Student Council. They have graciously offered to help promote this cause. I feel fortunate to be part of such a caring school community.

Take the Survey
The Laurel Park ES PTA is looking for ways to improve and expand the level of communication and the services we can provide to the families of our students. We need your help to accomplish this task.
Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions. Your feedback will help us in our quest to determine the best ways to communicate with you as well as increase parental participation in classroom/school activities and events.
Input from this survey provides us with valuable insights that illuminate our areas of strength as well as areas for continued growth. All answers are confidential, but if you would like to discuss this survey with a PTA Officer, please email us at laurelparkesPTA@gmail.com.
